Duke is a very loving dog with us and with “his” people. We cannot have people over or really take him places as it takes him a long while to relax and figure out that it is okay. He loves romping with dogs and he plays well with our cat. He loves running in the yard and playing with toys. He also like carrying toys in his mouth and he smiles. He knows sit, down, wait, come, outside, inside, place, go to your room, go get your toy.
He is very fearful and has a lack of confidence. We tried a positive reinforcement training that did not yield results. We tried e-collar training that also did not yield results. He is afraid of many things in the home like clothes, bags, balloons, rain and will often just hide in the bathroom. With people, he will do good at the dog park ignoring people unless they stand up or raise their voices. On walks he will bark and lunge at every single person he sees. This is why we believe it would be best for him to rehome him as in Chicago we would have to rely on walks in a busy and noise city, and he will be afraid of the noise and will bark and lunge at everyone.
He has barked at kids in the park. I have never tested him with children as he didn’t seem comfortable.
