Terms & Conditions*
- By signing this contract, the adopter is aware that this is a binding agreement. The adopter agrees to keep and take good care of their newly adopted pet in the most safe and humane manner. The adopter shall treat their pet as a family animal and companion. The adopter understands that pets require appropriate amounts of food, water, shelter, and medical care for the duration of its life. The adopter shall ensure their newly adopted animal is properly taken care of and the adopter agrees to nourish them to the best of their allowed capacity.
- The adopter understands it is his/her/their responsibility to be familiar with the local and state laws relating to licensing and animal welfare and shall abide by them.
- In case the adopter no longer has the capacity to continue to care for their newly adopted pet, the adopter agrees to inform Mercy Full Project Animal Rescue prior to making any decision that impacts the lively hood of their animal. These decisions include, but are not limited to, rehoming, taking the newly adopted pet to a shelter, or leaving the animal at a veterinarian’s office.
- The adopter understands that the breed listed is no more than a guess based on the adopted pet’s appearance. Mercy Full Project Animal Rescue does not guarantee the breed of your adopted pet.
- The adopter agrees to give Mercy Full Project up to 72 hours to send all veterinary records and adoption certificates. If you do not recieve the records within the 72 hours, please contact us. We will believe you have recieved them otherwise.
- The adopter understands that any health problems, issues, or concerns not previously mentioned on the veterinary records provided by Mercy Full Project Animal Rescue shall become the responsibility of the adopter. Mercy Full Project Animal Rescue is not responsible for any health problems, issues, or concerns (unrelated to the veterinary records) that appear after the date signed on this contract.
- The adopter understands that there are no guarantees or warranties with regard to the behavior, health, or temperament of the adopted pet. Any and all damages and injuries caused by the actions of the adopted pet shall be borne by the adopter.
- The adopter agrees to consider sharing pictures of the newly adopted animal and their new family after the adoption is complete. The adopter acknowledges that these pictures will be posted on the public Instagram and Facebook pages belonging to Mercy Full Project Animal Rescue.
- In the case that the adopter must return their adopted pet, the adopter agrees to give Mercy Full Project Animal Rescue 14 days after the date signed on the surrender form to make arrangements necessary to bring the animal back into the possession of the rescue. By returning the animal listed on this contract to Mercy Full Project Animal Rescue, there is NO guarantee of a refund of your adoption fee. Returning after ONE WEEK of the date signed on this contract results in 50% of the adoption fee paid be returned to the adopter. If returning after MORE THAN one week of the date signed on this contract, NO REFUND IS GRANTED. Refunds will only be returned electronically. Refunds will be given via Cashapp, Paypal, or Venmo.
- Once you bring your newly adopted animal home, it is best to introduce them to the outside of the home first. If you have another dog, bring them outside to meet the new addition prior to bringing the new dog inside (even if they have already met!). Consider taking them on a walk and allowing them to become familiar with each other. It is important to establish a clear and structured routine within a couple of days of the dog going into the home. Please note that your new pet will not be comfortable at first and that ADJUSTMENT TAKES TIME. We recommend seeking out the help of a professional dog trainer immediately to learn and train your newly adopted animal.
- 3 Days: Within the first three days, the dog will more than likely feel uncomfortable and overwhelmed with the newest change to their environment. They might not eat or drink and might even hide. This is perfectly normal and expected behavior. Patience is key during this period. Allow your newly adopted dog to move at their own pace to become comfortable and familiar with their new surroundings and routine. 3 Weeks: Within about 3 weeks, your newly adopted dog will begin to settle into their new home! They will become more comfortable and familiar with their environment. They will begin conforming to the routine and structure you have set for them. Your newly adopted dog will begin to show their personality and come right out of their shell. Behavioral issues will begin to manifest themselves during this time. It is important to identify these issues (chewing, pulling on a leash, exessive barking, going to the bathroom inside, aggression, etc.) and seek the help of a professional trainer to address these issues. It is imperative you seek professional help during this stage. Contact info@mercyfullprojects.org for trainer recommendations! 3 Months: Within or after 3 months of adopting your dog, you should notice them acclimating to their routine. They should be comletely comfortable and settled into their new home. They should developed trust in you as their family. It is important to continue to build the bond between you and your newly adopted dog and keep them mentally stimulated to avoid additional behavioral issues (dogs get rowdy when they are bored!). Please be sure to maintain the professional training you started as dogs perform best with reinforcement.
- The Adopter Understands we DO NOT guarantee any health status, breed or possible future illness, Adopted pets come "AS IS" all dog has been vaccinated with up to date vaccines, spay or neuter, microchip and up to date on flea and heartworm prevention.
